McClain Airlines Pilot Hat Badge

Phoenix, AZ 1986-1988

Started by Thomas McClain, former TWA and Marriott executive. Launched all first class service at coach rates with B-727s on October 13, 1986. McClain's aircraft were seized by the lessor on February 4, 1987 over a payment dispute which was resolved the next day. However, the airlines operation was suspended on February 23, 1987 and the company filed for bankruptcy. The airline leased some aircraft to cover commiments but their certificate was revoked in May of 1988 and the company went out of business.
